I read a total of 15 books in January. Five ebooks, seven physical books, and three audiobooks. Those will all be linked below if I posted a review to the blog. I did not review one of those 15 books. The book I did not review was All the Ever Afters as it was not a book I felt I could probably give an accurate review of as it was exciting but did not hold my attention as well as some of the other books I read this month.

Favorite books in January

My top favorite books this month were The Awakening, Bitterblue, Winterkeep, and The Dark Archive. This one stood out as they were either strong starts to a series with outstanding fantasy elements, as is the case with The Awakening, or they held my interest to the last page. Bitterblue and Winterkeep are from the same series and revolve around Bitterblue as a character I dearly loved to read about. The Dark Archive is the most recent book in The Invisible Library series and was a rich, dark fantasy.

Least favorite books in January

My three least favorite that I read this month were The Perfect Guests, All the Ever Afters, and Waiting for the Night Song. All three of these are out of my realm of regular reads, and they were not terrible. They just fell in the three or below range. The Perfect Guest is a story with a convoluted plot surround secrets in a family and the desperate schemes to keep it all under wraps. All the Ever afters is the untold story of Cinderella’s stepmother and stepsisters. I found this exciting but very dark but told why she portrayed her in Disney movies. I felt for her as she suffered some trials before becoming Ella Step-mom. The final least favorite for January is Waiting for Night Song, another contemporary novel that is told between the past and the present and has dark secrets waiting to be brought to light.
