The highly anticipated next book in the New York Times bestselling, award-winning Graceling Realm series, which has sold 1.7 million copies.
For the past five years, Bitterblue has reigned as Queen of Monsea, heroically rebuilding her nation after her father's horrific rule. After learning about the land of Torla in the east, she sends envoys to the closest nation there: Winterkeep—a place where telepathic foxes bond with humans, and people fly across the sky in wondrous airships. But when the envoys never return, having drowned under suspicious circumstances, Bitterblue sets off for Winterkeep herself, along with her spy Hava and her trusted colleague Giddon. On the way, tragedy strikes again—a tragedy with devastating political and personal ramifications.
Meanwhile, in Winterkeep, Lovisa Cavenda waits and watches, a fire inside her that is always hungry. The teenage daughter of two powerful politicians, she is the key to unlocking everything—but only if she's willing to transcend the person she's been all her life.
The Graceling Realm books are a companion series, not direct sequels, so they can be enjoyed in any order.
Review
The Graceling realm series is unique in that each novel takes on a life of its own. The first book Graceling introduces us to the world and the people who have these fantastic talents called graces. Where is unique. Then Fire, where we meet Leck and see how horrible all these creatures can be (not my favorite series). Book three and this last one center around the famous Bitterblue, who I thoroughly adore. I read these books one right after the other, and I fell in love with the character of bitter blue and her relationship with Po, katsu, giddon, and her half-sister have.
In this brand new novel, Winterkeep Kristin has expanded this world even more. Welcome to Winterkeep with telepathic blue foxes, silbercows, and zilfium, a type of rock that can cause pollution. Their political intrigue, destruction of the world due to pollution, and the kidnapping of royalty to take over the world. Are you intrigued yet? Also, I hate Lovisa parents and thoroughly wanted to choke them throughout the novel, and i think they got what they deserved in the end.
Winterkeep is a fantasical world part of the graceling realm full of political intrigue, some rather nasty parents and interesting fantasy creatures. Come check out my review of Winterkeep by @kristincashore Click To TweetRating Report | |
