Review
Epic Fantasy, at its best, is nice and long. Hence, you have plenty of time to establish world-building, the magical system, and the political intrigue surrounding our princella in hiding. Entranced from the first page tell the heart-stopping ending. I did get a bit bogged down while the war-ravaged the land, but those parts are necessary for the whole scheme of this story to work. If you watched the recent Witcher story, this echoes what plays out in that series. You have a Queen whose daughter has a unique magical ability (gryphling talent), a mother who tries to hide her, and a political war raging all over the country. There is an original magic system based on the elements, but the book researched extensively and well written that the magic aspect, at least in this one, plays a backdrop to the court politics. This book is, at times personal and other times, harsh and brutal. Spot on debut, and I can not wait for the next, and since the marketing is doing one book a month over the next few months, we won’t have to wait long.
