Welcome to another edition of The Archivist’s Weekly Shelf Report, my little corner of the internet where I look back at the books I finished, what I’m currently reading, what’s coming up next, and whatever other bookish chaos found me this week. I am linking up with Caffeinated Reviewer Sunday Post
So grab a cup of something good, find a comfy reading spot, and let’s see what happened on my shelves this week!
The Archivist’s Weekly Ledger
A Week in the Library
July 12–18, 2026
Welcome back to another week in the archives! It was one of those rare reading weeks where every book seemed to find exactly the right moment to land in my hands. Six books, more than 2,000 pages, over 40 hours of reading, and every single finished book earned five stars. Weeks like this are why I love being a reader.

🏆 The Archivist’s Pick of the Week
Book of the Week

🌊 Sea of Charms by Sarah Beth Durst
When every book this week earned five stars, choosing a favorite wasn’t easy. In the end, Sea of Charms claimed the Kraken’s Crown. Sarah Beth Durst created a world that felt magical, comforting, and impossible to leave behind. It reminded me why fantasy will always have a special place on my bookshelf.
Why it earned the crown:
- ✨ Beautifully immersive world-building
- 🩵 Characters I genuinely cared about
- 📖 A story filled with magic, heart, and wonder
- ⭐ An effortless five-star read
“Some stories are read. Others are experienced. Sea of Charms was pure magic from beginning to end.”

🔖 Currently Reading
The reading never really stops around here! After finishing six fantastic books this week, I’ve already jumped into several new adventures.
📖 Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab (56% complete)
The atmosphere in this one is incredible. I’m taking my time with it and enjoying the journey.
📖 Flickerstate by F.A. Davidson (63% complete)
This fantasy continues to keep me intrigued, and I’m looking forward to seeing how everything comes together.
📖 The Weaver Bride by Lydia Gregovic (50% complete)
I’m officially halfway through this one and excited to see where the story leads.
📖 The Games Gods Play by Abigail Owen (39% complete)
A mythology-inspired fantasy with plenty of action and a fascinating premise. I’m eager to spend more time in this world.
I don’t know about you, but I love having a few different books going at once. It means I can pick whatever fits my mood that day—whether I’m in the mood for dark fantasy, mythology, or something with a little more magic.
Which of these should I finish first? Have you read any of them?

☕ Life Beyond the Books
Because occasionally I do put my books down…
Reading wasn’t the only thing keeping me busy this week! I spent some relaxing time working on my current diamond painting, slowly watching thousands of tiny drills come together to create a beautiful picture. Pairing a diamond painting session with an audiobook is one of my favorite ways to unwind after a busy day.
I also kept up with my walking pad workouts. While I don’t walk every day, I try to fit in at least five walks each week, and this week I celebrated earning my July Achievement Badge after completing my ninth walking workout of the month. Every workout is another step toward building healthier habits, and I’m proud of the consistency I’ve been building.
🌿 This Week Outside the Library
- 💎 Worked on my current diamond painting
- 🚶 Completed my 9th walking workout of July
- 🏅 Earned my July Walking Achievement Badge
- 🎯 Continuing my goal of 5 walking workouts each week
💭 The Archivist’s Random Bookish Thought
This week’s thought:
I don’t think I have a reading slump… I have a “too many amazing books and not enough hours in the day” problem.
📬 Until Next Week…
And that’s another week officially filed away in the archives!
What was the best book you read this week? And what are you reading right now?
Tell me in the comments—I’m always looking for another book to add to my already completely reasonable and definitely-not-out-of-control TBR.
This post is part of The Sunday Post, a weekly book-blogger roundup hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer, where bloggers share their bookish news and weekly updates.
Until next week, may your shelves stay full, your coffee stay warm, and your next read be five stars.
