I picked up The Salon of Enchanted Beauty by Anna Mittower, wanting something quick and cozy—and that’s exactly what I got.
This tiny fantasy follows a newly graduated sorceress who opens a beauty salon powered by magic… and immediately struggles to find customers. When a cursed noblewoman walks through her door, the story shifts from cute small-business woes to something a little braver and more heartfelt.
What I loved most was the tone. It’s light, whimsical, and quietly encouraging — very much a “believe in yourself” kind of tale without being heavy-handed. It’s short (blink and you’ll finish it), but it leaves a warm little glow behind.
Perfect for when you want a sprinkle of magic without committing to a 500-page epic.
