Review:
Mrs. Spring’s Garden is home to many insects and bugs, which all contribute to how the garden thrives and grows. One day though, Snail and Worm argue over who does the most work to keep the garden growing and which contributes almost nothing. As the argument escalates, hurtful words are said, hurt feelings escalate, and the whole garden is fighting each other. Children will learn in this tale that it takes all kinds to make families or communities work, and when everyone contributes in their way, the whole garden, in this case, gets to enjoy the benefits. The story also points out what would happen if one group of critters left and how the garden community would suffer, again pointing out how valid each link in the chain is. I liked how colorful the pictures are and the easy way the story gets the lesson across about the importance of working together. An incredible story to share with all children and a good reminder for us as adults.
