The first book in an addictive, romantic trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan is perfect for fans of Laini Taylor, Tahereh Mafi, and Claudia Gray.

With her rare ability to breathe fire, Jacinda is special even among the draki—the descendants of dragons who can shift between human and dragon forms.

But when Jacinda’s rebelliousness forces her family to flee into the human world, she struggles to adapt, even as her draki spirit fades. The one thing that revives it is the gorgeous, elusive Will, whose family hunts her kind. Jacinda can’t resist getting closer to him, even though she knows she’s risking not only her life but the draki’s most closely guarded secret.

Mythical powers and breathtaking romance ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses an ancient divide, from New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan.

Review:

Firelight is the first book in a dragon shifter fantasy by author Sophie Jordan. A story about two sisters, one who hides a dragon inside the other human: Jacinda is our firebreather and is rare as a firebreather has not been seen in a long time. The issue with being rare is that she will soon be trapped in her family clan as a breeder to form a new line of firebreather dragons. To save her daughter, her mother steals away her sister and hides them in the human world, in a desert, so Jacinda’s dragon inside will become dormant. Jacinda doesn’t want to be a breeder; she doesn’t want to be human. She wants to embrace her dragon side in a safe place. Enter the love interest, a dragon shifter from the clan and one who is human and from a family who hunts her kind—a fantastic dragon shifter tale with twists and surprises that will keep you guessing until the end.

About Sophie jordan

Sophie Jordan took her adolescent daydreaming one step further and penned her first historical romance in the back of her high school Spanish class. This passion led her to pursue a degree in English and History.

A brief stint in law school taught her that case law was not nearly as interesting as literature – teaching English seemed the natural recourse. After several years teaching high school students to love Antigone, Sophie resigned with the birth of her first child and decided it was time to pursue the long-held dream of writing.

In less than three years, her first book, Once Upon A Wedding Night, a 2006 Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Nominee for Best First Historical, hit book shelves. Her second novel, Too Wicked To Tame, released in March 2007 with a bang, landing on the USA Today Bestseller’s List.
