Review:
The book follows Ambrose, a servant in the kingdom of Eltoria. She is forced to train secretly with her brother, a castle guard. She knows she will pay the price if caught learning how to fight. One day, she’s in the castle, walking back to her room, and she kills a guard. Her life is forever changed after that moment. In an attempt to save herself, she ends up putting her name into the Immortal Trials. Now, she must survive the impossible to save herself. I thought this book would focus mainly on the trials, but there is a lot more in the book, and the trials are the last action-packed part of the book. I also like how I had no idea how many magical creatures I would find in this book; dragons are my favorite. Ambrose also learns quite a bit about herself and those who she chooses to trust along the way. Immortal Origins is a strong debut novel that will keep you guessing right up to the very end on how things will play out, and I was so nervous for Ambrose as she jumped into the trials and how determined she was to survive them.
