Zinnia is the only pink person in a very gold world. After being told that pink stinks by a golden bully, she goes on a quest to get rid of her pink for good. Along the way, Zinnia learns a valuable lesson. Will she embrace her unique pink, or will she change to be just like everyone else?

Review

Anything but pink is an excellent book for young children learning about the things that make them stand out among their peers. In anything but pink, Zinnia is unique due to her color, which is pink. Of course, a bully points this out, but that is a common ground that all children encounter. The story is engaging as Zinnia tries to shed her pinkness, blend in, and not show her color. It opens up a great dialogue for teachers to have with children in the classroom and makes an excellent opportunity for parents to share what makes them unique and how unique they see their children. The illustrations are eye-catching, and the story is eye-opening and engaging.
